That said, if budget is an issue, the NTG3 is on par with the 416, just has a slightly different tone profile that some prefer and others dislike. I second the 8060. If I had to do it over again, I'd skip the NTG-3 and get the MKH8060 now, but it's $1250, so I don't know if that's a viable option. I personally wouldn't get the 416.
